Let me tell you how terrible your management of the Rte 18 East Brunswick location is.
Went there on opening Sunday of the 2018 NFL season. This should be one of your biggest days of the year. Showed up at Noon, place was empty. Asked if they would have Giants audio on, was affirmed they would. Should have asked if they knew what a Sunday ticket was and how to work it, cause at 12:50 that was still in doubt. They found the local feed for the Giants game and put the audio on, and by about 1:10 had given a half-hearted effort to put 3 of the other 8 games on. So clearly they had the ticker, had figured it out, but after aligning 3 games were like ‘eh…good enough.’ Keep in mind, there no less than 12 TVs hanging above the bar alone, and 8 games on. Fine use of the resources invested by the good people of TK.
Got a beer and a menu. After the first quarter I had a cigarette and returned to find my menu was taken by another patron, ordered from, and returned. Asked for another and ordered the breakfast sliders.
A full quarter later they showed up at halftime, sans fries. Was told that the fries were just put in and would be out soon. Fries take 2:45 in a fryer.
Rode out 20 minutes of halftime and finally my fries arrived, missing the Ranch I ordered with them.
Ranch came promptly and I was content. Until a regular showed up looking for the Dolphins game which was on rain delay. Manager told him he’d switch my TV to the Dolphins, never acknowledging me in my fill Giants regalia. That’s fine, there were plenty of TVs showing the Giants — again they only used the ticket for 3 games, but I was offended to have never been acknowledged that he was swirling my TV. And again — the game was on rain delay. Until 4:10.
So I slid down 4 seats at the bar and watched the rest of the game without incident, Around 4 I ordered another beer to watch the 4o’clocks. About 3 minutes in, they kill the audio and put on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Specificaly the song Time, the slowest most depressing song in the history of prog rock. This was directly followed by two slow country songs (again…nothing says North Jersey like emo-country), and then radio silence. Mass exodus of the patrons inside.
This entire experience was a clear indication that your manager could not give two shits about your clientele or your business’ desire to make money on one of the most anticipated bar days of the year. I now know why the place was dead at Noon and why today was a financial miss for your establishment. This wasn’t a singular foul-up, or a lapse in judgment, it was a systemic failure by your management to either consider your clientele, or worse the company’s business model. I will never return here, primarily because I respect Tilted Kilt too much to allow one of its franchises to be led by such abject ambivalence to the customer and the company mission statement.
To be clear, this is not an indictment of the wait staff, they did an acceptable job.
Fire whoever was running the show for you in East Brunswick on Sunday Week 1 of the NFL season.
